From Publishers Weekly
Things are suddenly starting to look up for the hapless but optimistic Emma Corrigan. She has kept her job at Panther Cola for nearly a year, has the perfect boyfriend and hopes for a promotion to marketing executive should her first opportunity to strut her stuff and land a business deal be successful. Unfortunately, things don't go quite as planned, and on her unusually turbulent return flight from a disappointing client meeting, in a terrified state, she confesses her innermost secrets to the good-looking stranger sitting beside her. When she shows up at work the next morning, she is horrified to discover that her mystery man is none other than the revered and brilliant Jack Harper, American CEO of Panther Cola, on a weeklong visit to the company's U.K. branch. Thus begins a series of chaotic, emotionally exhausting and funny episodes that thrust Emma, with her workaholic best friend, Lissy, and their awful flatmate Jemima, into a world of fairy tales, secrets and deceit. Venturing beyond Saks and Barney's, the bestselling author of Confessions of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Ties the Knot entertains readers with backstabbing office shenanigans, competition, scandal, love and sex. The plot is gossamer thin (Jack is keeping secrets of his own) and the lopsided romance not entirely believable, but Kinsella's down-to-earth protagonist is sure to have readers sympathizing and doubled over in laughter.

Shipping this book to the next person as of 9/4. I enjoyed this book a little more than her "Shopaholic" series. Although it is written along the same lines, this one seems to have more depth to it.

I have one book to finish reading, then I'll read this one. :o)

RELEASE NOTES:

I SO enjoyed this book, from beginning to end! I even liked the ending! The last few books I have read had lame endings. This was a light and fun read. I found myself laughing out loud. I am going to read the Shopaholic series next because I enjoyed this author so much.

I will get this book to the post this morning. I hope you like it as much as I did.

Journal Entry 7 by vraciousrdr from Vista, California USA on Monday, September 27, 2004
thank you, thank you. I've been waiting to read this and even passed up a copy in a Chick Lit bookbox that I'm in since I knew this ring would be coming my way. Looking forward to reading it. :)

I'm surprised I got any work done at all today. Can You Keep a Secret arrived yesterday and I was chomping at the bit to get to read it, finally cracked it open this am and it was all I could do to get the kids to school and go to work. I found myself wishing the line at the PO was longer so I could read more while waiting.

As usual, Sophie Kinsella has another hit. Emma is completely adorable and Jack is a shite but a mischevious and good one :) I didn't want it to end. Maybe we'll get lucky and there will be other books featuring Emma and Jack. :) Mailing off in the am.

Journal Entry 14 by lorit5 from Pocomoke City, Maryland USA on Wednesday, November 3, 2004
I received this book in a bookring yesterday.
Can you keep a secret? I couldn't help but pick it up over the book I was currently reading and finished it last night. What can I say I like this book. Which kind of suprised me because I don't care for British comedy/romance movies but I really enjoyed reading this. I will be emailing next on the list now for their address.

This book was a hoot! You could tell right away where it was headed, but it is such a fun ride, you don't mind. Sophie Kinsella definately tops my list of favorite chick lit authors.

Sherri5762 has already read this book from the library, so I mailed it to Guinaveve today. Enjoy!

Journal Entry 17 by guinaveve from Mason, Ohio USA on Wednesday, December 22, 2004
I recieved this today and am looking forward to reading it as soon as I finish my current read.
Edited to add-
This book was great, so funny! I found myself laughing out loud, which I rarely do when I read a book. I love the way the characters seem so real. In a typical book, the author is so focused on the storyline that the people in the story don't feel real. In this book Emma is a realastic person whose realistics thoughts and secrets we are privy to as the reader. I would love to read more books like this, stories about people rather than people that are used as props for a story.
I plan on adding other books by this author to my wish list the next time I update.
Passing this on to KatieDeMaio who is next on the bookring list.

Released on Friday, December 31, 2004 at about 9:00:00 AM BX time (GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) at Fellow BookCrosser in Postal release, Postal Release Controlled Releases.

RELEASE NOTES:

Enjoy!!

Journal Entry 21 by wingAramenawing from Noble, Oklahoma USA on Tuesday, June 21, 2005
This ring is apparently stalled, it was sent to versacevixen back in March and she's not journalled it nor is she responding to PMs. However, I found another copy of the book last weekend at the local USB, so I'm resurrecting the ring with it. A link to the new book is below. Thanks to all of you who participated in this ring and kept it successful as far as it went!
