I'm thoroughly enjoying these short stories. They're the perfect length, each about 10 to 15 pages, just enough to build up the story and knock it over with a classic Bradbury twist. My favorite stories for far are "The Burning Man", which asks the reader to reexamine his or her own prejudices in the setting of a typical lone road hitchhiker horror story, and "The Perfect Murder" which shows that time is the ultimate judge and jury. I plan to finish reading the remaining stories and mail the book on Saturday.

Journal Entry 5 by jamieh2003 from Wiley Ford, West Virginia USA on Thursday, October 21, 2004
This arrived in yesterday's mail. Thanks so much for including me on the ring! I will be starting this today and try and have it out to Kitten22 before the end of the week. This book includes the storiesand I've indicated which ones were my favorites with an asterisk. The Blue Bottle One Timeless Spring* The Parrot Who Met Papa The Burning Man* A Piece of Wood The Messiah G.B.S.-Mark V The Utterly Perfect Murder Punishment without Crime Getting Through Sunday Somehow Drink Entire: Against the Madness of Crowds Interval in Sunlight* A Story of Love* The Wish Forever and the Earth The Better Part of Wisdom Darling Adolf The Miracles of Jamie The October Game* The Pumpernickel Long After Midnight Have I Got a Chocolate Bar for You! Though all of these stories are excellent. I've managed to narrow it down to my three favorites in the collection. I also would like to add, "Long After Midnight" as a runner-up;-) I think it illustrates so well the difference between age and experience over youth and passion and all with the trademark Bradbury twist at the end. I want to write more about it but I'm afraid that if I did I would spoiler it for future readers on the ring. One Timeless Spring I liked this little paranoiac tale. Filled with elements of rebellion, bulemia, and a child's resistance to change this story seems just as pertinant now as it did when it was published. Interval in Sunlight Perhaps it's my personal history of staying too long in a very bad relationship that made this tale so nightmarishly real to me, but I found myself feeling trapped along with the protagonist and was chilled by the subsumation of her person. The October GameI first read this story years ago, and it remains my very favorite of the "gotcha" style stories. You feel the suspense building and the last line is a hoot! Bradbury was at the top of his game with this one.

Journal Entry 9 by lostbookisland on Monday, March 06, 2006

Another bookray book that has met the fate of the postal system is what this situation appears to be. Where did this book go? Will it ever find the light of day and get a new journal entry? The Lost Book Island welcomes all of the books that get lost and allows them the freedom to run and play on the island in hopes that one day a new journal entry will come that will tell all of the interested parties where this book has been and if it will get the chance to again return to the BookCrossing world.
