I haven't read this one yet and I'm looking forward to it. I love fairy tale rewrites. My friend is going to read it first and I'll read it when I get it back.

8 out of 10

Most little girls grow up hearing the story of Cinderella, the poor damsel in distress, who is rescued to live happily ever after by the handsome prince. Perhaps this story is the version they should hear. Did you ever wonder what happened to Cinderella after the ball, when reality sits in and she realizes she plans to marry a man she barely knows. This was a cute story. It's message is this: You do not need a handsome prince to find happiness. You simply need to look within yourself and beleive. Do not settle for less and above all, do not change yourself for anyone!

Is happily ever after really happy? For Ella (Cinderella), once reality sets in and she finds out what is expected of her as a princess and gets to know Prince Charming, she realizes that maybe she has not chosen a life that will satisfy her. I really enjoyed this book because the story was well told and characters well written but also because Ella doesn't need a fairy godmother to help her change her life.

I enjoyed this alternative ending to the Cinderella tale. Ella decides that marrying the mindless Prince Charming isn't such a good idea. Now she must take her destiny into her own hands for the second time in her young life.
