Journal Entry 1 by synergy from San Antonio, Texas USA on Tuesday, April 27, 2004
I bought this book at the S.A. Central Library's Book Cellar. I like mysteries and this is a thin book I can read quickly and make available or wild release. Journal entry once I read it.

Journal Entry 2 by synergy from San Antonio, Texas USA on Sunday, May 23, 2004
This is the second book I've read of Peters with the character Felse. There's a big gap between the first and this book (book 3 to 10), so that probably explains why even though I liked #3, I liked this one better. I'd say that the reason I liked this one better is because there was more active stuff going on. There were also more people involved that would fit the "whodunit" so it made it more fun for me trying to figure that out. BTW, I didn't figure it out. It wasn't who I thought it was going to be. Just like I like it to turn out. :) From the back of the book: "As for the knocker, it was of antique iron, rustproof practically forever, of a lovely crude texture. It was made in the form of a beast's head, wreathed in leaves that never grew on any tree, as the beast had never roamed in any jungle but that of Apocalypse." The knocker hung on a very special door- oak, heavy with a late-Gothic arch, and apparently a late-Gothic curse. Then the door was moved from an old house, once an abbey, to the village church. Legend held that sinners who seized the knocker had their hands burned by the cold iron. But Gerry Bracewell didn't die of burns, neither did a second victim. Had they knocked on death's door, or was a more down-to-earth killer at large? Detective Chief Inspector George Felse, returning from a weekend in Wales, had passed through the village of Mottisham and watched the ceremony enacted to rededicate the door. Little did the Inspector Felse know that soon he would be called back to investigate murder...
