Meg's soul is up for grabs as Heaven and Hell try every sneaky trick imaginable to claim it. Helping a lonely old man complete tasks on his wish list is her only chance. But even if she takes that chance, will she really have enough points to face up to St Peter?

This is quite an enjoyable read with some interesting ideas. Meg's relationship with the old man becomes quite touching as the book progresses and it is a bit of a reminder that you shouldn't let life pass you by. I must admit though that I was quite disappointed with the "terrible deed" Meg committed toward her stepfather, it didn't seem quite terrible enough!

Thank you for making my day! I woke up feeling very hayfeverish and was thinking "I'll have to stay in on this lovely day." Then the post came. All these goodies! Thank you so much! Okay, this is my intro to Eoin Colfer. I thought the book looked an interesting idea, and I'm thoroughly enjoying my teen novels (as I'm TRYING to write one!). I can settle down and read this later as I finished my other book yesterday. Then I found a cute card saying about a bookmark. Awww it's lovely! I actually collect bookmarks so it's going to be well used, and kept carefully with Olliebear's and Lucycat's. I think it's a lovely bookmark. Thank you. Then there's choccie! ooh my favourite! Well, I'll definitely enjoy that. So thank you oblivious1980, you have made my day...I know what I'll be enjoying later with my book!

This was a good introduction to Eoin Colfer. I enjoyed the idea of the tunnel leading to either Heaven and Hell, and the quirkiness of the characters with their gadgets. Meg's relationship with Lowrie was touching and very humorous. The dialogue is realistic and bounces along nicely. I liked the attempts to achieve the wishes, and the forces of evil against them added the tension....although the dog part got a bit too silly for me. I agree with oblivious1980 about Meg's terrible deed. Would it have pointed her to Hell? I don't think so, I couldn't help but think Yes! He deserved it! And much more besides! But that wasn't the point! Thanks for organising the bookring Oblivious.

Woo hoo - I loved the Artemis Fowl books, so am really looking forward to getting my teeth into this one. In fact, I might even read it with my 9 year old! Thanks Robbiesmum for the bookmark - it's beautiful.

Will journal when read.

Cheers,
Jords xx

What a fab little book! I loved the Artemis Fowl books, so I had high expectations of this one. I, like others, thought that Meg wasn't hard enough on her step-father, however also realised that as this is a children's book, that she couldn't be too extreme.... and also that the act couldn't go unpunnished really - and that's both him and her.

I thought the relationship between Meg and Lowrie was absolutely beautiful written. It was really lovely how they bonded and worked together. Thanks oblivious for arranging the ring.

Will pass onto Caligula on 24th June as requested.

Release planned for Saturday, July 10, 2004 at to USA in post office, England United Kingdom.

Off to Caligual03 - hope you enjoy it as much as I did xx

While the Wish List has the same quirky characters as the Artemis Fowl series, the story didn't hold my attention as well. I found myself having to put the book down or go back to reread sections. The story turns direction and picks up speed at the Kissy Sissy chapter but somewhat to the determent of plot. Just suddenly the main character knows how her powers work. Then later the story stops dead in its tracks for some lengthy flashback chapters where a paragraph or two would have sufficed.

This book arrived safely this morning.

Oh dear, another bookring I'd forgotten I'd signed up for... ;op

Journal Entry 12 by spike1972 from Cardiff, Wales United Kingdom on Thursday, January 13, 2005

When I first started this book, I was a little worried that it may be a bit *too* much of a Children's Book for me, but within a few chapters I started to get drawn in to the story, and moreso the characters.

I'd go along with a lot of what's already been said by other people who've journalled, in that I liked the 'tunnel' idea, and the characters, and their interactions, within.

I also agree that it was nice to see how Meg and Lowrie's relationship/friendship developed, whilst they both remained a young girl and an old man, respectively.

I'll be passing this book along within the next couple of days.

Oh I really loved this book! Apart from echoing almost everything the earlier readers have said, I also enjoyed to references to Dublin and surroundings, having been born and spent part of my childhood there.

It is now on its way to jewelee.

What a great book. Apologies for taking so long to get it read, I'm so behind on my TBRs at the moment! Anyway, I really warmed to Meg's character and a few things towards the end of the book really surprised me about her. Will pass it in as soon as I get address details. Thanks for letting me read this!
