"Hiding from the Nazis in the "Secret Annexe" of an old office building in Amsterdam, a thirteen-year-old girl named Anne Frank became a writer. The now famous diary of her private life and thoughts reveals only part of Anne's story, however. This book completes the portrait of this remarkable and talented young author.

Tales from the Secret Annex is a complete collection of Anne Frank's lesser-known writings: short stories, fables, personal reminiscences, and an unfinished novel. Here, too, are portions of the diary originally withheld from publication by her father. By turns fantastical, rebellious, touching, funnyy, and heartbreaking, these writings reveal the astonishing range of Anne Frank's wisdom and imagination- as well as her indomitable love of life. Anne Frank's Tales from the Secret Annex is a testement to this determined young woman's extraordinary genius and to the persistent strength of the creative spirit."

I finished this yesterday, and definitely came away with a clearer picture of who Anne was. I thought there could have been a little more editor input in the book - at times I was confused about whether Anne was telling a story, or talking about herself. Overall it was a good read, though, and I must so that Anne certainly had a full and active imagination. I will send this to the next person as I get their address.

Released on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at Bookray in Bookray, A Bookray Controlled Releases.

This is one of the fastest travelling books ever, I'm sure. I'll get to it as soon as I finish the one I'm currently reading. And I'll also try to find some more readers for this book.

I haven't read the book yet, but I just wanted to say that I've promised Majosim and ladyofunicorns that they can read it after me.

Started reading the book last night.

I must admit that I only read some of the stories in the book, as I think they were very similar in style. I'm glad that I've now seen Anne's other works - apart from the famous diary. She was definitely talented and full of imagination. Sad that she didn't live to fully develop this talent.

Thanks for sharing the book, Czersk. I'll let Majosim read the book and then I'll send it on to ladyofunicorns.

Journal Entry 12 by Majosim from Roskilde, Roskilde Amt Denmark on Saturday, June 19, 2004
Thank you, tutmarie, for lending it to me.

Journal Entry 13 by Majosim from Roskilde, Roskilde Amt Denmark on Tuesday, July 27, 2004
Started reading it yesterday. Very imaginative stories and very well written for a 13-14 year old.

Journal Entry 14 by Majosim from Roskilde, Roskilde Amt Denmark on Saturday, July 31, 2004
Finished it this morning. No doubt that she was talented. She is therefore a symbol of all the talent that holocaust robbed the world of. Sadly.
I now give it back to tutmarie. Thanks.

Thanks tutmarie! I am hoping to read this soon. It looks very interesting.

I really enjoyed this book. Sometimes it is hard to believe that it was written by a 13-14 year old! Could you imagine what she would have become if tragedy did not befall her? Wow! It saddens me to think that she never even had a chance to become an adult. Loved these stories! To think she thought them up. How active her imagination must have been! At her age, I was writing stories but not so well refined as hers! I am very glad that I was able to read more of her stuff besides the famous diary. Though, the one I read in school was very different from the one I read recently...

I am unsure at this moment what I am going to do with this book so I leave it marked as reserved at this time. Does anyone know of anyone else who would like to read it? Or have it back for their pc? Let me know!
