Deaver's novels are outstanding for many reasons - the well drawn plot lines and characters and the plot twists and turns. This one has an ending that you will never forget.

"Praying for Sleep" will do for dark and stormy nights what "Jaws" did for the ocean and "Psycho" did for showers. Don't read this one alone!

Journal Entry 5 by SabinaLorenz from Wien Bezirk 19 - Döbling, Wien Austria on Thursday, August 12, 2004
I fought with the book, and finally I made it: I didn't like the rhythm, I didn't like some of the characters because of their strange reactions (I have the suspicion no living person would react as they did, but it was needed for the plot...) I didn't like the language.
The end is somehow surprising, but, compared with the long, long descriptions at the beginning, too short. (I had the impression, the author already had made the promised words or pages and now he wanted to get to an end).
I do hope, my successors in this bookring will like the book better...

Das Buch war heute im Briefkasten und hat brav auf mich gewartet zusammen mit einer süssen Überraschung (um die werde ich mit meinem Mann kämpfen müssen). Vielen Dank Sabine und fannynatalie.

So many strands are coming together in this book and so many different stories with different people. It was very difficult in the beginning to grasp the who is who of the story. I enjoyed reading the book and I read it quite fast but I'm not overly pleased by it. It was interesting but it somehow didn't touch me very much.

I don't think that I'm such a big fan of Jeffrey Deavers. He just wants too much and always puts far too many sidestories in his books. Stories that would be worth a book by itself and not just a side remark. Also the stories are very constructed and don't seem natural at all (and therefore don't seem very believable either)

Travels on to Muffin77. Unread - my Mt. TBR is too high in the moment. Maybe the book will return to my shelf at the end of its journey.

Probably the slowest Deaver I ever read. I could not really get into this book - for some reason it was lame and nothing really surprised me... sending it on as soon as possible.

RELEASE NOTES:

sent on to *sheepseeker* today - enjoy!

Journal Entry 17 by Sheepseeker from Bonn, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Friday, February 4, 2005
The book just arrived this morning together with two other bookrings.

Journal Entry 18 by Sheepseeker from Bonn, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Thursday, February 17, 2005
I must admit, I had trouble getting into the story, but the further I got the more gripping a read it got. Although I usually don't like thrillers set in the US I'll definatelly give Deaver another try.

Thanks a lot for the ring, fannynatalie!

Since I can't get in touch with alaun, I'll PM the next participant! (02.03.05)

The book is entertaining, but I don´t really like J. Deaver. Perhaps the next reader will like it more.

I'm so sorry for not making this journal entry sooner!

The book arrived here several weeks ago and I finished it in two days. It was an easy read, but I doubt that I'd pick it up again. The characters just didn't seem convincing enough to make me care about their fate.

I'll send it to the next person on the list asap. Again, sorry for not writing here sooner.

Journal Entry 23 by alaun on Friday, April 7, 2006
I've sent it on to Kari-H (dulli didn't respond to my PMs).

Journal Entry 24 by Kari-H from Bad Nauheim, Hessen Germany on Wednesday, April 12, 2006
This book is on my shelf again. After I had forwarded unread last time, maybe I now find time to read it. I like Deaver's books and am looking forward to it.
