This was ultimately a fun read, although the casual racism in the first part tripped me. The book tells the adventures of time-traveling tour guide Jud Elliot, who (we learn in the first page) falls in love with his great-great-multi-great-grandmother in Constantinople in the year 1105. I was sure I knew what was coming, but there's a nice bit of misdirection there.
Favorite line:
"Only the weirds, the freaks, the sickos, and the pervos would take a tour like [the Black Death Tour], which is to say the demand is always pretty heavy."

I gave this book to someone bound for Seattle, after a most enjoyable vacation in which I read his C.S. Lewis books and he read my Terry Pratchett books.
