The Great Husband Hunt
4 journalers for this copy...
Someone at work gave me this to release into the wild. I got all excited thinking it was a Laurie Graham book I'd not read, but it's actually the USA title for "The Unfortunates". As usual Laurie Graham delivers the goods. This is a great book, I now just have to think of a great release site.
Have decided to offer this as a UK book ray. Four signed up for it so far.

I'm sorry I'm sure its just me but I'm throwing in the towel on this one.
The first 40 pages were interesting & entertaining & it looked promising for the rest of the book but then it slowed down, right down, waaay down :o\ . I gave it to page 80 then skim read another 30 pages but nope couldn't get any enthusiasm up for it, just dull, dull, dull. The main character is, imho, too shallow even to be more than irritating, as are the plot and any historical info. As for it building any sense of the era or atmosphere ... well it just didn't do it for me.
Far too many great books out there to be read to waste any more time on something I'm not getting on with so I'll pass it on & hope it fires someone elses imagination more than it did mine.
Off to tabyorky tomorrow.

Received in the post today from ziggythecat. Will post on to the next person as soon as I have read it.
Started reading this book.
Not my usual type of book that I would normally read, though I did think it was quite a good book.
Posted book to Jords.
Arrived this afternoon with many thanks. I love the cover LOL! Will journal as soon as read - cheers xx
I was really looking forward to this book as it sounded fab, and to be fair the beginning of it was. However it really slowed down and I found myself getting rather irritated by the protagonist.... like ziggy said, she just seemed so shallow really, but then again, I also found her a little naive too (if that makes any sense whatsoever!)
On a more positive note, the narrative was something quite different and I'm glad that I had the opportunity to read the book. Many, many thanks Bookfrogster xxx
Off to Flajol next............
