This book is set in Hongkong, and some chapters take place in the early 1940s and some in the early 1950s. Kolonialism coming to its end, and people's lives intertwining. A good read.

I also enjoyed this tale of intertwining lives moving backwards and forwards through 1940s, 1950s Hong Kong. I knew very little about the invasion during WWII. A good debut novel.

AVL until I find a new reader.

Now on its way to the winner of the occupation sweepstake. I can see you've registered a copy of this book before but it looks like it went straight on to someone for a similar sweep :) I've enclosed a travelling companion in case this isn't the case!

Received as part of the occupation sweeps. You were right, I think the copy of this I registered was sent direct to another bookcrosser. I can say with assurance I hadn't read this before as it was so rainy yesterday I spent the whole afternoon, evening and night reading. LOL. So have finished this one already. I really enjoyed it, even though as is often the case with Bookcrossing, it is not necessarily one I would have picked up for myself. A really interesting bunch of characters and a good plot. I particularly liked the conclusion for Claire. Thanks very much for sending me this one.
