This book is a classic, so I thought I would try it out. I found it to be quite slow at times, and the writing style is different than most books I have read. It is an old book, so I am sure that explains the writing style!

Interesting book, I quess this is not what I would normally read, It is good to expand our minds to what we would not normally read!
I found the history of the Aurthor of this book very interesting and that of her sister as well.
The book itself was difficult at first to get into but once I was determined to read it, I found it rather intrigeing.
Distressing how love, jealousy and hatered can alter history in this story, I found it frustrating that feelings so within reach where out of grasp due to family ties.Almost reminds me of a Romeo and Juliet.
Thank you bookgal for sharing this read.
Have a blessed day!

I thought reading a classic would be fun.... ha ha. Maybe this was the wrong classic for me. I found the wording did not flow for me and I struggled through this book slowly.
I did not complete this read, it just did not hold my attention. Perhaps at a later date when things in life are not so busy, I will try again. For now I will push this book on so as not to hold up the ring.

Journal Entry 8 by kelwood from Toledo, Ohio USA on Monday, July 26, 2004
Received two bookring books in the same day. I've never read this and am looking forward to finding out about the mysterious Heathcliff. Thanks bookgal23!

Journal Entry 9 by kelwood from Toledo, Ohio USA on Monday, August 9, 2004
I guess I'm in the minority here, but I thought this was a fantastic, though somewhat disturbing tale. Heathcliff's passion for Catharine is as strong as his desire for vengance against those who have destroyed - or tried to destroy - him. And in the end he finally destroys himself. I found it haunting and suspenseful to the end. And it spite of Heathcliff's horrible abuse of everyone around him, I had a hard time putting it down.

Will send off to Brujula as soon as possible.

Well, I'm with Kelwood!
I really enjoyed this book! It took me a while to read it, and I found the English a little difficult to deal with a times (mainly the Yorkshire dialect as spoken by Joseph).
But it's a very original way to tell the story, and the characters, although not lovable are beautifully depicted, and so real!

I liked this book as much as Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte!

Thank you very much bookgal23!

I shipped the book october 6th....the two books I mailed the same day (to europe) have already arrived, so it shouldn't take this one too long!

This book is not in the wild, but in my possession. It returned home from its bookring journey almost 3 years ago.
