Overall the book is wonderful. It did start out slow, but picked-up by the third chapter and was wonderful reading after that. I would tell everyone to read this book.

Journal Entry 5 by surfenkitten from Audubon, New Jersey USA on Thursday, May 20, 2004
what a book! i loved it, and here i thought that i wasn't really a fan of war novels....made me really want to see the movie! lol. i don't like war movies much either :) but i really enjoyed the kind of wandering/haunting feeling of Inman, and the determined-ness of Ada....you really could identify with both of them.

sending on to AbbyR!

Journal Entry 8 by rem_NFI-175395 on Monday, August 2, 2004
I wasn't sure I would like this one, but am sure glad I gave it a try. It was a slow start, but once into it, I didn't want to put it down. It made me want to see the movie! I'll get it out in the mail to the next person today or tomorrow.

Journal Entry 9 by JeepACV on Tuesday, August 10, 2004
Rec'd bookring and will read ASAP! Thanks for sharing this one, I'm looking forward to reading it and watching the movie afterwards.

08/15/04 - A good book. I liked the comparison to an oddessy where the story is within the journey, not the destination.

PM'd for next address and will ship out soon. Thanks for sharing this book with us!

08/27/04 - Watched the movie last night. It followed the book better than most movies do, and even knowing what was coming - I found myself enjoying the movie and the characters very much and hoping... Sometimes, the actor portraying a character doesn't fit with the mental picture you create of them, but here, most did (it helped that you see the 3 main characters on the cover of the book).
