Blurb:Jack Reacher plans to follow the autumn sun on an epic road trip across America, from Maine to California. He doesn't get far. On a country road deep in the New England woods, he sees a sign to a place he has never been - the town where his father was born. He thinks, what's one extra day? He takes the detour.

At the very same moment, close by, a car breaks down. Two young Canadians are trying to get to New York City to sell a treasure. They are stranded at a lonely motel in the middle of nowhere. It's a strange place ... but it's all there is.

The next morning in the city clerk's office, Reacher asks about the old family home. He's told no one named Reacher ever lived in that town. He knows his father never went back. Now he wonders, was he ever there in the first place?

Reacher never disappoints me although to my mind, one or two of the later books haven't been as good as some of the earlier ones...but boy is he back on form here! The blurb tells you everything else you need to know so I won't repeat it, or go into the storyline - why spoil it for future readers?

I'll just say that I felt he shared the limelight more than in other episodes, this being with two young Canadians. Patty & Shorty are in quite a quandary to say the least & their story is a good, gripping one. Patty is a feisty character, one who seems to share some of Reacher's intuitive powers at times - just as well as to start with Shorty seems to be as much use as a chocolate teapot!

Loved it (not that there was ever much doubt it would be otherwise!) & this is Reacher at his best - just the way I love him :o)
