The Moonstone

The first of its kind. It could possibly be the first English mystery novel ever written.
Appearing in serial form, from the 4th of January to the 8th of August, 1868, it still exists as a classic in its field.
It is titled by the author as a romance, but has every embodiment of a mystery novel, keeping the reader glued to its pages with its minor twists and clever turns.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and when I received another copy of it from a friend for my birthday a couple of years back, was hard pressed to get rid of the first one from my library.
I'm not even a fan of mystery novels and I couldn't put it down...A must read read for anyone interested in reading the 'classics' of literature.
