I'm going to send this out in a book ring soon.
Ella Enchanted is the story of a girl given a "gift" at birth by a bumbling fairy - a gift that turns out to be a curse. Her gift is that of obedience - anything that anyone tells her to do, she must do.
But Ella doesn't give in to the curse easily.
"Instead of making me docile, Lucinda's curse made a rebel of me. Or perhaps I was that way naturally."
The story has a wicked stepmother, wicked stepsisters, a fairy godmother and all sorts of other Cinderella-like touches. It was fun, and has won many awards, including the Newbery Honor Book.

It was nice to read a book that was just as fun to read as i had hoped. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more by the same author. I send it on to MarciNYC tomorrow. Thanks AbbyR.

Hooray! Something to distract me from the so-so book I'm currently reading. I should get through this within a week and have it ready to send on to the next person in the ring. Thanks!

What a fun read! In spite of the obvious blurb on the back cover, I was 2/3 of the way through the book before I realised this was another variation of the Cinderella story. (Duh, Marci!) I'm still not clear on how Ella broke the spell, but nonetheless, it was a fun, fast read and I'm glad that I asked to participate in this bookring.

Thanks Abby for sharing this book! I must be on the lookout for Levine's other works. This will be off to kab113 as soon as I have a mailing address.

I received this book for a bookring when I returned from camping last night. I have a couple other bookrings before it to read but I look forward to reading it ASAP!

I don't know how I looked past it for so long but I didn't realize until today, my last day of reading this book, that it was a remake of the Cinderella story! This makes my second Cinderella book in a row, and between the two I liked this one a bit more! The ogres, dwarves and elves added a lot of appeal to this book for me and I really want to watch the movie now. (Actually, I'm trying to add it to my netflix queue right now!). Thanks a lot for letting me join in on this ring! I will send the book on to nepenthe40 just as soon as I receive his/her address!
