A beautifully written novel and the second in the Fortune's Rock trilogy. It is 1899 and beautiful 15 year old, Olympia Biddeford, spends the summer at the coastal resort of Fortune's Rocks with her parents, who own a holiday home there. She soon begins a passionate affair with a 40 year old married man, with 4 kids, who have also been invited to stay at the home.
Although an intriguing love story it was hard to summon much sympathy for the man who really should have known better. It does leave a bit of a bad taste in the mouth.
These days he would have been put on the sex offender's register!
