1 journaler for this copy...
I got this handsome hardcover from the ongoing book sale at the Dunstable MA public library, for another release copy.
I "read" Inkheart first via audio download from Audible.com, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a wonderful book-lover's book, with some marvelous characters. I adore poor homesick Dustfinger, and young Farid, and the horned marten - who's anything but a cuddly Disney-style sidekick; and young Meggie's aunt Elinor, who was more of a bookaholic than even I am... And the nightmarish possibilities of the power to read things - and people - into and out of books is, while not entirely new, wonderfully developed by Funke. [I enjoyed her Thief Lord too, and noticed that both books have a strong undertone of melancholy and loss beneath the wonder - a nice touch.]
I've read the sequel, Inkspell, but I found it a bit of a letdown after this one, and I haven't tackled the third book, Inkdeath. (I've seen the film version of Inkheart, which has a wonderful cast, but which seemed to have sacrificed some of the original story for the sake of additional special effects...)
[There's a TV Tropes page for the trilogy, with lots of interesting info, but beware of spoilers.]
