THE LOVE CHILD by MEG ALEXANDER [1998] – over the top high drama, positively gothic, peppered with clichés, more Radcliffe than Heyer. Sadly no heady sizzle. Chance meet of adoringly vulnerable young girl [dressed as boy] and young blade, dashing and titled. She rescues him, he rescues her pair fall in love but he doesn’t notice this. She decided she must flee to save his honour and while attempting this gets press-ganged. He rescues her again big reveal of honourable birth pair share 2nd chase kiss after, of course, a marriage proposal.
