*** Durham Bookfestival 2018 - The Big Read ***
In a dusty post-war summer in rural Warwickshire, a doctor is called to a patient at lonely Hundreds Hall. Home to the Ayres family for over two centuries, the Georgian house, once grand and handsome, is now in decline, its masonry crumbling, its gardens choked with weeds, its owners - mother, son and daughter - struggling to keep pace. But are the Ayreses haunted by something more sinister than a dying way of life? Little does Dr Faraday know how closely, and how terrifyingly, their story is about to become entwined with his.

I have tickets to see Sarah Waters at the Bookfestival this weekend so am looking forward to hearing her thoughts as somehow this novel did not particularly grab me. I felt it was just dragging on and dragging on and Dr Faraday totally annoyed me as a character. I thought the characters were rather one dimensional and it was pretty obvious that something drastic would happen and that someone would die. Maybe I have missed the finer and deeper points so as said, looking forward to the Bookfestival event
