I enjoyed flicking through this, but at the end of the day no amount of reading will get the house clean ;-)
My house is not perfect, but is nothing like the ones depicted in here (or the TV series). Will post on to decembermum.

Journal Entry 5 by Decembermum from Basingstoke, Hampshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, May 4, 2004
I received this from Anfield. in the post today. I love the television programmes, they make me feel so much better about my house ;-)

Journal Entry 6 by Decembermum from Basingstoke, Hampshire United Kingdom on Thursday, May 20, 2004
I think I'm going to have to buy this, it has loads of great tips but you need to have it to hand to dip into. Anyway I need to totally de-clutter my house first ;-)

Sending on to KathyS. .

Journal Entry 7 by KathyS from Ramsey, Cambridgeshire United Kingdom on Friday, May 21, 2004
Arrived the day after my course finished - now there's no excuse, especially as I've got the ring for "Sink Reflections" on the way too!

Thanks Kleptokitty for sharing and Decembermum for getting this to me :o) I've a ring in front of it but I'm sure to get through it pretty quickly.

Journal Entry 8 by KathyS from Ramsey, Cambridgeshire United Kingdom on Friday, May 28, 2004
Lots of great cleaning tips - I only wish I had the energy and inclination to use them! You'd have to be cleaning 24/7 on their advice. Come on, be honest, how often do you pull out your bed to hoover under it? I think once a month is a little excessive ;o)

I plan to write some of the more handy tips down before passing it on to Tiggsybabes as soon as possible.

Released on Friday, May 28, 2004 at Postal Release in Royal Mail, England United Kingdom.

Sent 1st class (it was cheaper?!!) to Tiggsybabes for her to enjoy :o)

Journal Entry 10 by tiggsybabes from Pontefract, West Yorkshire United Kingdom on Sunday, May 30, 2004
Received yesterday. My tip of a house needs some tips! Thanks *g* But, it's not as bad as the ones on the tv, mine is just hidden under a pile of toys.

Journal Entry 11 by tiggsybabes from Pontefract, West Yorkshire United Kingdom on Thursday, June 10, 2004
I enjoyed this & have taken some of the tips on board, mainly to wash towels at 60 rather than 40 & to use biological washing powder.

Journal Entry 14 by MarianFrench from Buxton, Derbyshire United Kingdom on Wednesday, August 4, 2004
Book arrived today - thanks. I was wondering what a book on cleaning might look like but having had a flick through it's really bright and appears to be well presented. Some of the tips on the programme are absolutely great so I'm hoping to pick up some more of those. Will journal again when I've read.
Marian

I forgot to add another journal before I sent this off to jeweleee so I'm editing my first entry. I thought that this was a really super book with loads of hints and tips which are brilliantly presented with lots of colour and vibrant photgraphy. You can really hear Aggie and Kim talking through the pages too, which is great.

What a great book! I've got some good tips from it, and will have to go out and buy my own copy as I found myself writing so many notes down, it'd make more sense to buy my own book!

Will be in the post to the next person in a couple of days. :)

I thought I had already sent this one on...sorry! Such is the power of Kim and Aggie my house is messier than ever! Oops...a great book though, full of great hints and tips. Just a shame I am too lazy to put any of them into practice...at least there is next years New Years Resolutions!

Thanks for sharing, Andrea!

This is a really useful book on cleaning but I found the language used irritating. 'Honk', 'pee-pee' and 'dear' are not in my usual vocabulary! However, I think this is the kind of language used by the presenters in the show (I only watched it once) so I can see why the book is written that way.

All the info you need to build household routines in here together with instructions on how to clean just about everything!

On way to loopy1

Journal Entry 27 by loopy1 from Herne Bay, Kent United Kingdom on Thursday, January 27, 2005
The book arrived here safely today. A year or so ago I would have avoided something like this, but since discovering flylady last year my confidence has grown. The house is by no means perfect, but I no longer feel I'm quite so bad in the scheme of things, and even watched a few episodes of this programme last month, which left me feeling rather smug! My children were fascinated by it as well.
I'm looking forward to getting into this book, although my overriding thought whilst watching the programme was "They have the right idea, but they're going about it wrong. They need to be gentle and persuasive like Flylady, not go in with all guns blazing!"

We'll see :-)

Journal Entry 28 by loopy1 from Herne Bay, Kent United Kingdom on Wednesday, March 30, 2005
Well I can give the exact page where I fell out of love with this book. It was on page 11, where there was a quiz to see how good you are at housekeeping. Now a couple of years ago, before Flylady, I would have scored probably a C. This time I scored a B. Not bad, I thought. I'm making progress. So the result for B? "It's never any fun being average, dear, is it? Who wants to be middle of the road? Go on dear, try and better yourself. Don't show the world your slovenly ways, best foot forward, let yourself sparkle, you'll feel better for it."

At that point the book really got my back up. I've made improvement over the last few months, and I expected to get a pat on the back, at least a "you're doing well, but there are even more improvements to be made". Not a beating up like that!

So although I found some of the tips useful, I found my attitude to the book overall was negative. I much prefer Flylady's coaxing and understanding to the berating done by this pair!
Thanks, apologies for keeping this so long - I was going to pass it back at the last meetup, but couldn't make it, and now I see another name has appeared on the list, so I'll be contacting akg to get her address.

Journal Entry 29 by akg from Didcot, Oxfordshire United Kingdom on Wednesday, April 6, 2005
Received in the post today, thanks loopy1. I ought to say that I'll be reading this once all my coursework is complete, but I've already done the quiz (got somewhere between a B and a C). I suspect I'll be dropping into this when I have a few moments, but the bulk of the reading will be in a couple of weeks when I no longer have the excuse of coursework and will need to clean the house as boyf has got fed up of doing it all.

Journal Entry 30 by akg from Didcot, Oxfordshire United Kingdom on Saturday, May 14, 2005
I admit I’ve never really understood how to clean, having never done it as a child so I’d try and do everything in one go and then get fed up. When I first read this book I was shocked at the number of tasks Kim and Aggie say need to be done such as vacuuming twice a week. However when I reread it I realised all the tasks are broken down into small chunks and all I need to do is a couple of them each day and its all sorted. I’ve been following this approach for over a week now and have started nagging my boyfriend who used to nag me to clean the house!

This book has had a huge impact on the tidiness and cleanliness of my house, however I don’t know if it would be the same for everyone. If you know how to clean and manage to do it regularly, you probably won’t learn much from most of the book and although there are interesting cleaning tips throughout the book that might be useful it could be an expensive way to learn to them.

Thanks for passing this on! I will study this intently and take on as much as possible-believe me, my house needs all the help it can get!

Journal Entry 33 by Miss-R from Southend-on-Sea, Essex United Kingdom on Wednesday, August 17, 2005
So much for this encouraging me to clean-I thought I'd passed it on, only to find it stuffed under the settee! I must have put it there to avoid Kim and Aggie's disapproving looks...
Lots of nice ideas in here, but does anyone really have time to do that much cleaning?
On to CaffCaff now.

Journal Entry 34 by AngelChild from Maidstone, Kent United Kingdom on Saturday, September 3, 2005
Arrived this morning.....

Well i did the quiz.... I'm a C lol...Kim says "Its the slippery slope for you my dear. A dirty, grimy home is nothing to be proud of. Any more filth and your bed sheets will be walking themselves to the washing machine (i say - I wish they would! lol) for a good soak. Oh we cant abide laziness, can we Ags?"

I've had a flick....hmmmmmm....not to sure if this is gunna help me, as i know what to do....i just dont do it! lol

Received back safe & sound, much to my disgust as I was hoping to keep it off my own bookshelves for quite some time to come ;-) Thanks to everyone who has read & passed it on. I'm particularly glad to see that it's now showing lots of reading wear, which is a massive boon as I can now show it off to Mum & lie furiously about how much time I've spent studying it :-)
