I won't insult future readers with my tiny German vocabulary and complete lack of grammatical knowledge, so this JE is written in English.

Honestly, I picked this book up out of spite! When it became clear that there was not going to be an English translation of this volume, I bought the language I thought I had the best chance of making it through, and went to work reading it with lots of help from a German-English dictionary. I know my grasp of the content was not as good as if I had read it in a language I was familiar with, but I enjoyed it anyway. I think the VHD-verse worked well with the German language. This storyline leans more into the gothic end, which likes to draw on historic Germany, and the series' sense of humor worked well in German too.
