I found this handsome hardcover in this Little Free Library in Bedford NH while dropping off some books of my own. It's a beautifully illustrated look at the life cycles of loons, from the perils of the young (there's a rather chilling sketch of a snapping turtle gazing longingly at the little loon chicks paddling above it) to the many unusual talents unique to the loon family.
