I got this sometime in late 2007 or early 2008 at the Barnes & Noble in Salem, NH - we were down in the area getting my senior portrait taken for my high school yearbook. Even more than the story, what stuck with me the most was the mention in the about-the-author blurb that Quarles had written this as her master's thesis for her BA in creative writing. I had had no idea that someone could write something *other* than a research paper for their thesis, and it blew me away!

I really liked the book. it was a quick read but told how life really can be in society today.
