I got this book at the "free books" box in Piran, Slovenia in May when I was leaving some books there while on holiday.
I had never heard of the book, but it looked like something I might be interested in.
It´s clifi (a new word I learned just a few days ago: climate fiction): a dystopia where in 2025 a former environmentalist is now caring for the private zoo of a pop star in the tropical storms of California. Sounds rather strange, which it of course is partly, and rather depressing (especially when read on a rainy day), but on the other hand it gave me some motivation to a little more positivity about my climate saving actions. Not that I am an activist, but even small everyday things like trying to use a little less plastic is quite commonly frowned upon - which is of course ridiculous (being frowned upon for doing something a little less idiotic than the rest of the people). And although the book is dystopic, it somehow gave me a little more self-confidence about a little increase in activism, maybe not living in a tree for three years, but a LITTLE more.
