McEwan is acclaimed as one of the most gifted literary storytellers of our time. This story all takes place in the course of one, very long, Saturday, told through the eyes of Henry Perowne, a neurosurgeon with a complicated, overly busy, personal life. He is imaginative and introspective, and much of the book is narrative, comprised of the thoughts and memories running through his head as his day unfolds. Unusual story.
