This was a very interesting book. Lily ran away from an abusive father and comes to terms with loss, betrayal and the power of a group of loving women who help her as she matures
Given to Hoserlauren today

Journal Entry 6 by HoserLauren from Burlington, Ontario Canada on Monday, December 6, 2004
Received this book today from AceofHearts.

I'm just about to start exams however, so I won't be able to read this until my exams are finished - which will be on the 20th.
I will start reading on the 20th and hopefully be done very quickly.

Journal Entry 7 by HoserLauren from Burlington, Ontario Canada on Wednesday, December 22, 2004
Great book! I had some high expectations for it from hearing good things about it, and was not let down in any way. Each character had a unique - and strong - personality. I think Zach was my favourite character, strong yet gentle.

I believe aliaskris is on xmas break right now without a computer, so I will send this off to her once she's back and I get her address.

UPDATE (Jan. 6th) - Aliaskris has asked to be skipped, I am now trying to get titihood's address.

Journal Entry 8 by HoserLauren from Burlington, Ontario Canada on Saturday, January 8, 2005
I received titihood's address and mailed it to her today.

I asked the person at the postal office and she said it would get there in 3 days, as titihood is leaving for the UK on the 17th so it needs to get there before then!

Anyway, I've started reading it - feels like a good one!

Journal Entry 11 by theadi from Lynbrook, Victoria Australia on Friday, February 18, 2005
Finished yesterday - very good.
I've passed it on to Mum (Auslorr), who has promised to read it within a month so I can send it on ;)

This book was sent to my daughter from a bookcrossing member and I hijacked it before she could send it on. It will now leave here for the next person on the list.
I love this book! It is funny and touching, describing human behaviour in an unjudgemental and totally unpatronising way.

CAUGHT IN WARRANDYTE VICTORIA AUSTRALIA

Journal Entry 13 by Bechan on Wednesday, May 11, 2005
Arrived in NZ

I will finish the book I'm currently reading then start on this.

Not the type of book I normally read but I've heard great things about it.
I'm looking forward to it!

Thanks Kelwood for organising this bookring and sharing your book!

Not my usual sort of book, but despite that I enjoyed it.

It's easy to read with a plot that carries the reader along.

The themes are universal - mothers, motherhood, home, love, the need to belong...

The setting (the Amercian South of the 60's) provided a satisfying and appropriate background and cast of characters.

On the negative side:

I thought the bee/hive metaphors were perhaps slightly heavy handed and obvious.

A feeling (to me) that some of the characters were a little stereotyped.

PM'd Sorgin
Second PM to Sorgin 3/6

Journal Entry 16 by Suzy26 from Delft, Zuid-Holland Netherlands on Monday, September 5, 2005
Arrived by mail the day before yesterday. Thanks for sending it to me, Sorgin. Also many thanks to kelwood for ringing it. I cannot wait to start reading it, but first I have to finish my current read.

Journal Entry 17 by Suzy26 from Delft, Zuid-Holland Netherlands on Sunday, September 25, 2005
A sweet, comforting story. Wouldnot it be wonderful if there was such a safe haven for all of us? Where we could go for some healing when we need it? Where we could tell our stories and have them heard without being judged? Okay maybe the storyline was a bit obvious, a bit too contrived, but all in all it was an okay read.

"Who do you think you are, Julius Shakespeare?" The man sincerely thought that was Shakespeare's first name, and if you think I should have corrected him, you are ignorant about the act of survival.

Book is on its way to Wordyone.

I'll finish the book I'm reading and get right into this one! Thanks, Suzy26, for sending it on - and for the beautiful postcard - and Kelwood for starting this ring.
