I love it when I deliberately 'go hunting' for a Bookcrossing book and find it, but what's even better is when I stumble across one by accident. Imagine my delight when one day I stopped by the St Andrews Heights Little Free Library and unexpectedly found not one, but TWO Bookcrossing books!
Since the two I found were #2 and #3 in the Airborn trilogy, I tracked down a secondhand copy of #1 and read the three books in order. I hadn't read any of Kenneth Oppel's books before, but I enjoyed them. He doesn't waste a lot of time making introductions at the beginning before exciting things start to happen, and the action keeps up a rapid pace throughout each book. The characters are complex and multidimensional- even the heroes have weaknesses and make mistakes, and even the most unlikeable characters have virtues and occasionally do surprisingly good things.
I just finished this one, #3, and I'm heading off on vacation later today, so I'll bundle the three books together and release them on my travels. I hope the finder enjoys them, and journals their whereabouts!
