This book is one I've been meaning to read for a while. Like Black Stallion the core of this a boy's feelings towards a particular animal. Also this book brings up the issue of animal rights and humanity responsiblity. It is set in the state of West virginia. In this reader's opinion the character Marty would be a great vet in the future if he were a real person.

This was a controlled release I picked up at our monthly Bookcrossing meet up. I mailed it to my 8 yr old granddaughter in SC and she really enjoyed. She now wants to read more Shiloh stories.
