I love books that tell a string of stories linked over time by one item or theme, and this book is an excellent specimen of that. It tells of the lives of different people living in a certain Blackbird House, set in a remote part of Cape Cod. I'm drawn in from the first story, of the little boy Isaac and his black bird pet, to the last one when a divorce woman received the house as a birthday present from her parents. Beautifully written.
