"Fifty delicious little essays about, in some cases, very familiar books, which tell you things you didn't know before and occasionally draw odd and unexpected conclusions. If no one buys this delightful book for you, buy it for yourself." (Spectator)

"Dexter presents fifty bite-sized pieces of literary history, with many fascinating details of each work's genesis and composition. Do you know:

-What was Wordworth's "Prelude" a prelude to?
-Why "A Clockwork Orange" and not "A Robotic Banana"?
-Who was the original Jeeves?

If not, you are in for an enlightening read. And you might even learn the answer to the title of this book."

Purchased as a present for a Birthday Group member who has it in her WishList.

I've finished this book just now, because I've tagged someone with it.
I started to like the book more and more. Interesting bits and pieces which made me grab my phone every now and then to look someone or something up.
I've already read Catch-22 twice, but I think I might have to again.
Also brought another dimension to the Netflix-show 'Lost in Space' which is a robinsonade, as I've learned. It might give me the push to start this show too.
And what a coincidence! I tagged Bookworm-lady with this book and she is the one who registered this book. Bookworm-lady, one of your books is coming back home for a while!
