This was an interesting read and something I would have loved when I was about 12. It has 2 girls as the main characters who survive a disaster with the aid of Tasmanian Tigers. I loved the voice of Hannah, the author conveyed the difficulty she had in learning to speak and understand English again really well. It is a bit gory in parts and I liked that the author did not hide the reality of the girls lives from the reader.

A dark and unusual story set in 19th century Tasmania about two girls, lost in the wild, rescued abd adopted by Tasmanian tigers. Hannah, the narrator tells us "me language is bad cos I lost it and had to learn it again." She is an unusual and resiliant character. She is a survivor, and the book has a great sense of other time and place .
As a child I enjoyed books like 'White Fang', adventure stories and especially stories that took me to places I could not experience. This one does this. 10+
