Constant dread, and this reader's participation mostly consisting of my saying, "No! Don't do that you idiot!" But the character couldn't hear me, she just kept doing one stupid thing after another.
Julia is married to Hugh but cheating on him with Lukas. Hugh is older, had helped Julia out when she was an addict. Julia has a sister named Kate who lives in France. Julia and Hugh took Kate's baby as they didn't think Kate could properly care for the child. When Kate wants her child back they refuse. And then Kate is dead, killed in an alley in Paris. Julia falls to pieces. She decides to look for Kate's killer and this is how she meets Lukas, on an on-line dating site that Kate had frequented. Kate's roommate had been a woman named Anna. Anna and Julia become friends and commiserate on how to find Kate's killer. Ugh, what a mess. A psychological thriller soap opera.
