Picked this up at the Biosphere 2 gift shop while staying there for a conference.

"Reflecting now, I see how beautiful our life support system was. It was visually stunning, with glorious architecture and majestic plants absorbing the CO2 and producing precious oxygen. And it was technically beautiful, with the mechanical and life systems working in concert to maintain a functioning biosphere. Conceptually it seemed that technology and humans had found their rightful place, working hand in hand to maintain and enhance life, not damage or destroy it. In 1991, the thought that humanity could either destroy or enhance life on a global scale seemed crazy to most people. Now we know differently. The threat of largely human-caused global climate change has even been acknowledged by the Pentagon."
