I received this book today in the mail from the Santa Fe Writers Project. I guess it's for "read and review" as it's a brand new advance reader's copy. I really don't care that much for historical fiction, and this is a long book. While I appreciate receiving this book, I don't want to read it. I'll see if anyone in BCinDC is interested enough in this book to do a "read and review" for this small, but notable, publishing company. I'm bringing it along to our next BookCrossing meetup in Alexandria, Virginia this month.

I just want to say here that I heard from the publisher, (Andrew Gifford, founder of Santa Fe Writers Project). Andrew was very happy to hear that I found a couple of very interested readers for this book, He said that it had had a "tough journey". He went on to explain that its author died in 1982. Andrew read the old edition in 2007 when it was already out of print. He "fell in love with it" at that time, but it took him until early 2017 to find out who had the rights to this book. He discovered that it was a nephew who "had no idea that his uncle was a writer and that his uncle's literary estate had gone to him".

I hope this interesting background story which Andrew shared with me contributes to your enjoyment and appreciation of this book.

I've loved Boadicea/Boudicca's story for years. Hearing it from the perspective of the Roman general sounds really interesting to me! I like my history best when it's written in fiction.

Thanks for letting me read this! It might take me a little time, but I'll start on it right away!
