I first read this book in school... I was about 10, so I guess I would have been in grade 6. This was required reading, part of a class study along with Tuck Everlasting... but I did enjoy the book (both books, for that matter). This is a modern classic... the Newbery Medal Winner from 1963.

While this book was written for children/young adults, I know many people my age and older who still enjoy it. I hope the finder enjoys it too!

Since I enjoyed this book as a child I was excited to hear that there is a new movie version coming out this year. My husband is not familiar with the book beyond its title, so he's currently listening to the audio book. He asked me to read the tie-in edition before we go see the movie (because he wanted me to read the introduction by the movie's director, and because he thought I'd like to read the book again before seeing the movie anyway), so tonight we picked up a copy. I will probably read it fairly soon as the movie comes out in a month's time.

I finished reading this book this afternoon, just in time since my husband and I had plans to see the movie in Ancaster tonight! Unfortunately, we're having a difficult day during a "When it rains, it pours" couple of weeks... so it looks like our movie date may not be in the cards tonight after all!

Oh well, the book is ready to go and hopefully we'll be able to reschedule our date night soon so I can release this book while the movie is still in theatres. It was interesting to re-read this so may years after I first read it, there was a lot I'd forgotten. I'm somewhat surprised that they made us read this one in school as kids, and that it's been made into a major movie this year-- not because it's bad or anything, it just surprises me a bit. Anyway, I'm eager to see what the new movie is like and to pass this book along to a new reader!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

My husband had an unexpected day off work today, so we decided to take advantage of the extra time together and see the movie we were trying to see earlier this week! I took this book along and left it in the lobby of the Silvercity cinema in Ancaster. I left it on the corner of a bar/counter area facing the arcade, next to a big poster advertising the movie version of A Wrinkle in Time.

If you've found this book, thanks for picking it up and checking out its journal! If you're new to bookcrossing, welcome. We'd love it if you'd stick around with us a while. I really hope that you enjoy both this book and the whole bookcrossing experience!

This book was released as part of the 2018 "52 Towns in 52 Weeks" Release Challenge. Ancaster was Town #6 for me.
