Outwitting History: The Amazing Adventures of a Man Who Rescued a Million Yiddish Books

This book was rescued from the discard shelf in the library in Bowling Green VA. It’s a very cool story about the National Yiddish Book Center and its founder. There are plenty of anecdotes of saving books (and a culture) from dumpsters and spinsters alike. Even if you have no specific interest in Yiddish literature or culture, you can’t help but cheer along with the author’s adventures in saving and distributing Yiddish books before they are discarded or destroyed. This may be the most relevant book that I’ll share through the bookcrossing hobby.
