This book is about Joan of Kent the mother of King Richard 2nd of England
I very much enjoyed reading this book, and learning more about the house of Plantagenet (ruling house before the Tudors) I thought that it was very well written and kept me very engaged in what was going on and what it was like to be a women back in those days.

I also liked the fact that we hear from the women's point of view instead of the men's as we so commonly do these days.
I guess this made the book more appealing to me

So the whole book was highly enjoyable, very gripping and kept me reading long past my bed time as I just couldn't put it down

Dealing with Plantagenet history as it does, this novel can't help but invite comparisons with Anya Seton's 'Katherine', and for me it fell short. I'm not quite sure what was missing; perhaps it was the sweep and swagger of Seton's prose. Having said that, this was a perfectly serviceable story that did an adequate job of conveying the internecine power struggle of 13th century English history.

Interesting book about a person (Joan of Kent) of whom I knew nothing. I found some of it rather 'padded out' it could have been not quite so long but enjoyable all the same.
Doesn't match up to Phillipa Gregory in my opinion
