Isabel Duncan is a scientist working with six apes in a language lab. They are "family" to Isabel. She and the apes are able to communicate using sign language. There is an explosion at the lab. Isabel is seriously hurt and the apes are captured and taken away. The apes are moved into a home that is outfitted with cameras and they become a reality show (think Big Brother with apes instead of humans). After Isabel recovers from her injuries, she is determined to find out who has the apes and to rescue them.
