from the TLC book sale.

Notes from my copy:
This was on a lot of bookcrossing wishlists, so I ordered it from the library. Disappointed. A lot of characters and I'm not sure if the author was going for a relationship book or a story. I thought it was supposed to be about a teen's hate crime, bounced to one Somalian's life in the US, then around the three Burgess children as adults, then throw in one of the spouses and an ex-wife. Very wierd

The Burgess Boys arrived safely in NJ, thank you NancyNova! I am so excited to have this title. I enjoyed all the other titles this author has written so I cannot wait to dive into this one. Will be reading and sharing soon.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

The Burgess Boys, mentioned briefly in Abide With Me, are now a story of their own. The underlying tradegy of the death of their father when they were children has seemed to leave them each with their own difficulties in life; and an undercurrent that comes to a head when they have to return home to Maine. They return home when their nephew commits a hate crime. They spend time together, along with their sister and her son, dealing with the situation, and discovering their own complex inter-sibling demons. That is all I will say on the story. I believe it was a well written book but, at times, moved a touch too slow. But I enjoyed it as I have all of Strout’s works and look forward to reading her next release.

Adding this to a package I am mailing out today.
