I haven't read a Clive Cussler before but the blurb sounded intriguing. I very much doubt whether I'll ever read anything by Clive Cussler again.
The plot had great potential, or so it seemed, but it rapidly became very predictable. The escapes from dangerous situations were totally ludicrous, the characters were so shallow as to be transparent, the writing was dreadful.
To crown it all, Clive Cussler wrote himself into the plot. I don't know whether this is a habit of his, rather like Hitchcock, but it doesn't concern me since I won't be reading any more from this author.
