I had the same issues with this book as Orsolya.

But, overall, I rated the book a little better because of the rich and imaginative worldbuilding, it was amazing!

Blending Chinese culture and folklore with romantic ups and downs, a murder mystery, and a colorful array of characters from the netherworld as well as from the land of the living, it presents heroine Li Lan with some very difficult choices - and, just perhaps, the hope of a happier future than the vying family-interests would give her...

I left this book, bagged against the elements, in the basket of one of the city's new rental-bikes in front of Martha's Exchange; hope the finder enjoys it!
