Alice Bliss tells the story of 15 year old Alice and the relationship she has with her father, whom she adores. Matt Bliss is an Army reservist, but goes to fight in Iraq. Inevitably it is the realisation of life without her father that shapes her life at a time when she is working out her place in the world and relationships around her.

What an interesting book, a coming of age story entangled with the day to day living with the grief of a close relation serving in a war zone. I can' t recommend it highly enough.

An interesting story about the bonds between a father (reservist and going to do the Irak War) and his teenage daughter. The end is predictable and sad.

Wish list tag game. Enjoy Bookfroster !
This has arrived safely in Edinburgh. Thank you very much florence71. :-)
I devoured this book over two evenings. I thought it was very well written. The descriptions of the various characters and how they were all dealing with their feelings seemed very realistic to me. I came across this title via Bookcrossing, so another good example of a book I;m not sure I would have found on my own. Thanks very much for sending it to me Florence71! I will try and find another appreciative reader. :-)
And off it goes to Brunton11 as part of the wishlist tag game. Happy reading!
Arrived safely today. Thanks bookfrogster!
