A nice gentleman from Edam donated this book me on August 11 2005, so others could enjoy his books. Thank you!
<-- back cover with description of the book

Fictional (?) history of an opera singer.

I registered this book in December2005. At the time I registered the book bookcrossers were more appreciative of most books (it didn't matter as much if the book was a little older or not in perfect condition). After the last meeting this year (2017) I decided to remove the BCID from this book because I was not sure it would not end up in de garbage after I released it. I was curious about the book and after I read it I tried to find a reader on the Dutch forum. To my surprise someone was interested, so I decided the give the book a new BCID (gave the old BCID to another book which is already travelling).

Wow, this book was really patient waiting for a new reader! I like the old-fashioned cover of the book, but hoping that the inside will be more resistent to time. I will see. I am already happy this book took me to a place I had never been to pick it up ;-) Thank you, dutch-flybabe!

On the mtbr, waiting for its turn.

Checking my Bookshelf, I see that I have omitted to write something about reading this book. So, from memory.... This book tells the story of Lena Geyer. She had a rough start in life (well, the first 30 years or so), but became a succesfull opera-singer. Living as she did more than a century ago, calls for imagination in the modern reader (travelling between the US and Europe before there were aeroplanes.....), thats a plus for this book. A minus, in my opinion, is that Lena herself remains at distance and does not come to life - what, for example, meant her love for the Duke the Chartress?

Going to think about what to do with this book, it looks, as mentioned earlier, rather worn and torn....
