Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk: A Novel

Great story
Traded with a member in New Jersey. Put book in the mail 11/15/17.
Lillian has arrived safely in NJ! Thanks so much for the trade.
Lillian is 85 years old and it is New Year's Eve 1984. Lillian has led a very interesting life having books of poetry published as well as becoming the highest paid female advertising copywriter in the country. There have also been some somber moments. She decides to take a walk around Manhattan and meets some old as well as new characters. The story is also based on the life of Margaret Fishback.
I am looking forward to my bookclub discussing this book this month. When we have Lillian will continue her journey to another bookcrosser, queen72, in New Mexico, who was willing to trade me for another bookclub pick.

Sending off to Queen72 as part of a trade she was nice enough to do for me. Enjoy
Thank you spoiledrotten! I'm looking forward to this book and what a gorgeous cover!
I really enjoyed this book, a love letter to New York, by a strong, witty woman, Lillian Boxfish. I loved that Lillian was snarky, confident and everything that was not expected of women of her time. I read this book for Popsugar’s 2018 Reading Challenge prompt, “a novel based on a real person,” (poet & ad woman Margaret Fishback).

Received today. Thank you so much!
I really enjoyed this! I have heard some readers say that they preferred the portions of the book that were set in Lillian's past, but I actually had the opposite reaction. I found that I preferred the portions that took place on New Year's Eve of 1984. But, really, I enjoyed the whole thing. The author interweaves past and present in the book in an ingenious way. Lillian was a very interesting character and I find it fascinating that she was based on a real person, Margaret Fishback.
