I've had this handsome hardcover (a Time-Life reprint of the original 1960s edition, with an all-black binding) on my keeper shelves for ages, and I think it's time it went traveling. It's a detailed look at the horrific axe-murders in Fall River, Massachusetts, with diagrams of the house (which still stands, and is now a murder-themed bed-and-breakfast - no, I haven't stayed there, but I'm tempted, ghoul that I am), examinations of the investigation, the trial, and the aftermath, and some interesting alternate explanations for what happened that hot day.
Side note: I visited Fall River a few years back, with a friend who can claim kinship with several key characters from the trial - including Lizzie herself. We got to see the Fall River Historical Society's display of Borden-trial memorabilia, which is a mix of haunting, grisly, and melancholy - and utterly fascinating.
Other Borden accounts I've enjoyed include the classic one in Edmund Pearson's Studies in Murder, and Rick Geary's woodcut-style graphic-novel version, The Borden Tragedy.
