This is not an ordinary book: it's a BookCrossing book! BookCrossing books are world travelers - they like to have adventures and make new friends...and every once in a while they even write home to say what they've been doing.

Looks like this is book 2, so I may need to look for book 1...

Borrowed book 1 from the library so I could read it first: the story of one of the boys from the orphanage is based on the experiences of the author's father!

Glad I read the first book because this one picks up right where Gib Rides Home left off...but there's enough explanation that I think I would have understood what was going on even if I hadn't just read book 1.

I enjoyed this book (and its predecessor) even though I'm not as fond of horses as Gib is: it was nice to see him finding his place in the world and beginning to build a future for himself.
