This book was based on Sarah and Angelina Grimké, who were the first known white American female advocates for abolition of slavery and women's rights. The story is told from Sarah's perspective who was gifted a household slave for her 11th birthday. The book is set in Charleston in the early 19th century and it's a captivating read. Handful will steal your heart and you will just be blown away by the story. Make sure you read the Author's notes, which is fascinating.
