Charity fleamarket find.
This was a really enjoyable read. Never mind that the crime itself is almost irrelevant, and instead you get all the family gossip and hints at everyone's dark secrets. I especially enjoyed the inspector's night-time conversation with the manservant. Really nice bits of dialogue.
Bonus discovery: I had actually never heard of Dame Ngaio Marsh before I picked up this book! And now I've got a really long list of mysteries to discover! Win!

Wow. This is the second book and tea I've received, so it looks like I won the sweepstake! I never win anything. Sooo excited.
Thank you so much, this looks like just my type of cosy vintage mystery. Perfect choice!

Hand in Glove by Ngaio Marsh - Good
The second of my tea and mystery sweepstakes winnings and a perfect choice.
How did I not know about the Superintendent Alleyn mysteries? Vintage/cosy crime, this one was written in 1962 (Hmm, vintage? I'm older than that!) Very much in the Agatha Christie vein, along the lines of a country house murder. Nice little mystery, some obvious clues and red herrings and some less so. Nicely wrapped up at the end.
I shall be looking out for more on my travels.

Will pass to Bookfrogster as the winner of the next round of the Tea and Mystery Sweepstakes. I think this will be right up her street!

Received as part of the tea and mystery sweeps. Thanks very much for this and the other goodies. :-)
I read the whole of this series a number of years ago and it was so lovely to re-read this one. I think I like them more than Agatha Christie. Inspector Alleyn is lovely and I really like his relationship with Agatha Troy, his wife, who still gets to be a person in her own right and have a successful career. It's made me want to read them all again.
