I am unsure if I like this book or not. At first, I was rooting for the main character, Astrid. By the end, the author turns her into an unlikeable monster. The mother is worse and never deserved to have a daughter. I've read a lot of reviews that say this is all about "shock lit." The author just kept trying to top herself and failed to fully develop the characters. Shame. However, the reason for my rating is because it does read quite eloquently and smoothly.
