Letters to Alice on First Reading Jane Austen
2 journalers for this copy...
I've had this softcover on my keeper shelves for some time now, and I think it's time it went traveling. It's a sparkling epistolary novel, its concept being that the author is writing to her niece to explain why said niece should bother to read Jane Austen's novels nowadays.
I brought this to the BC meetup in Porter Square today; hope someone enjoys it!
Caught at the Sept. Sat. Meet-up/to be read!
This was interesting concept. The author Fay here is a the narrator/fictional "Aunt Fay" and all the letters are from her to her niece Alice--with a litany of advice about reading Jane Austen, other books/others, the writing process, the book promotion prices, to be a writer/ to not be, family/life commentary et al. There are one or two other letters, one to her "sister" to patch up a family falling out. It's a little teacher/preacher and it would have been nice to hear Alice and the sister's other/side of the story. Holding for now.
